The Highly Anticipated Renault A110-50

Renault is one of the sports car models that has been mothballed for over 20 years. But the Renault brand loyalists have a reason to smile. The Renault sports car brand is back! The iconic A 110 will make a comeback next year (2017).

Its fans all over the world, have kept the Renault brand active despite its absence in the market. Full production returns in 2017 and all the vehicles will be assembled in Dieppe France (home of Renault Sport).

Geneva motor show is the biggest date in the European motor industry calendar. And as the date nears, new cars, tech and radical concepts are expected to be featured. Manufacturers of different models are hype-feeding their customers with information about what they should expect in the coming year.

Renault A110-50 will be the shows big crowd drawers. But what should we expect to see in the new front end model? This is what the leaks onto the web says;

Exterior design

To the exterior, we expect a more down to earth design but the hood and the nose will still feature

  • It will come with a hidden front splitter in its bumper
  • A powerful air diffuser to accelerate airflow underneath the car
  • Slim fog lights (with LED technology) and grille design
  • A carbon fiber body which will be a fraction of the original Alpine version

Interior design

As for the interior, spottiness and convenience premium features is what everyone has set eyes on. And this is what the leaks reveals.

  • A pair of bolstered front seats
  • A flat-bottom steering wheel
  • Leather upholstery

Engine capabilities

The Renaults engine is a mystery combining lightness and power output. To withstand the competition from other sports cars, this is what the leaks promises;

  • A 3.5-liter V6 producing 400hp yet other sources suggest the possibility of a 1.6L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine producing up to 300hp
  • A semi-automatic 6-speed gearbox
  • A twin plate clutch controllable either by the clutch pedal or the paddle on the steering wheel.
  • Acceleration of 60 mph in less than 5.5 seconds and a top speed over the 160mph

Prices (speculation)

The first Renault 2017 version is expected to retail at around $33,144-$38,660.

Verdict

To this far, the much awaited Renault A110-50 is just a concept but a pretty one indeed. When production comes, we’ll all see what the Renault engineers have been doing. It has not been confirmed whether the Renault will make its first sales in the US.
