Audi will equip the basic version of its R8 supercar with a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that debuted in the new generation of the Porsche Panamera. In the new Porsche Panamera 6-cylinder engine offers 440 hp and 550 Nm of torque. It is combined with 8-speed robotized gearbox with two clutch PDK, it allows hatchback accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds. The maximum speed of this modification is 289 km/h.
Motor itself is a joint development of the Audi and Porsche. Engineers of both companies have created a whole family of V6 and V8 engines, bearing the name KoVoMo. These engines will be placed more models of brands Bentley and Lamborghini, which are also part of the concern Volswagen Group.
