The range of hybrid models in the BMW already includes a car based on the 2-Series Active Tourer. The premiere of machine-type plug-in hybrid was held in Frankfurt. Although it is labeled as 225xe, the newest hybrid BMW will have a different name - 225e, as the British brand Jaguar already sells a model with initials XE. This is not particularly important as more important in the model are its capabilities. Namely fuel economy and impressive dynamics.
The hybrid engine of the car is made of 1.5-liter TwinPower Turbo engine with three cylinders, electric motor and a set of lithium-ion batteries. The petrol engine developing 136 hp and 220 Nm, drives the front wheels, while the electric motor with 88 hp and 165 Nm is placed on the rear axle. This configuration provides power to all wheels, giving the BMW 225e total output of 224 hp and maximum torque of 385 Nm.
Electric power range of up to 41 km., In this mode the maximum speed is 125 km/h. At full power acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h takes 6.7 seconds and top speed reaches 202 km / h. The average fuel consumption is within the 2.0 to 2.1 l / 100 km confirmed by BMW at the premiere in Frankfurt. Charging the batteries into a standard electrical outlet takes about 3 hours and 15 minutes. Available is fast charger in which time is reduced to just over two hours.
The hybrid BMW 225e will be available in the market later this year.
